Simona graduated in Veterinary Medicine from Sassari University in 2003 with an experimental thesis on dog behavioural pathologiesShe is a Diplomate of the European College of Animal Welfare and Veterinary Behavioural Medicine (ECAWBM).

She is a PhD in Animal Science curriculum Applied Ethology, Specialist title in Applied Ethology and Welfare of Small Animals and she obtained the Field expert recognition in animal behavior from the Federation of National Italian Veterinary Orders (FNOVI).

She is involved in research on the behaviour and welfare of dogs and cats. She is a lecturer in the ethology and genetics course of the graduate program in animal husbandry and welfare. She is a speaker at various congresses, courses and seminars and author of national and international publications in the field of applied ethology and animal welfare.
